My honest self-exploration and creative expression have been sources of healing for me throughout my life. My calling is to help people heal themselves with a comprehensive and holistic approach.
In my clinical practice, I integrate
movement and pranayama (breathing techniques) with traditional talk therapy, Buddhist psychotherapy, and Art Therapy and Play Therapy.
Using a mindfulness-based approach, the focus is strongly rooted in compassion, acceptance and reconciliation therapies.
I specialize in grief and loss, trauma, attachment issues, chronic pain, anxiety complexities, and depression.
I work with children (7+), adolescents, and men and women.
I have some really exciting news to share. It's been awhile since I've hopped on here to update my status. Just a quick note that I am releasing my first book soon!
It's based on my research on self-love.
Expect it to be on the shelves late this year. Stay posted for updates between now and then.
This is for certain: I cannot wait to share this work with you!
Another announcement soon and more to come when I launch my new site...
I'm pleased to share that after five long years of study I've just completed my doctoral project. The research focus is self-love and contemplative psychology and my study is Examining Self-Love through a Buddhist Lens. Just waiting for the next steps so I can get my work published and share, share, share, this very exciting and important work!
I am beyond thrilled to get this out in the world.
Other updates: Last year (Noveber 2024) I received a Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies through Naropa University. What an amazing program. It's a newer type of therapy and it's growing. I'm excited to see where this takes me over the next few years.
Registered Psychotherapist CRPO#006795 (updated 2025)
I hold a Master's in Counselling Psychology and am registered with the CRPO as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). I wrote my thesis on grief and grieving and created a comprehensive therapy guide and group format called Moving Through Grief. I also hold a post- graduate Thanatology Certificate from Sheridan College.
Professional Art Therapist
I hold a post-master's Art Therapy (DVATI) certification and am registered with the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA). My capstone project focused on the neuroscience of trauma and the benefits of a mindfulness-based art psychotherapy protocol. This project led to developing the BETH (Be Empowered Trauma Healing) program, a 10-week expressive-arts-based program to help individuals manage trauma symptoms.
Play Therapy
Art therapy has allowed me to earn my Play Therapy credentials through the Canadian Association for Play Therapy.
Sara, NP, MN
Sara is a mother, nurse (University of Ottawa) and holds her Master's in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner from the University of Toronto. As a former Varsity Athlete, yoga teacher, and nutrition advocate, Sara blends spiritual with science and offers holistic healing advice.
Sara's nurturing approach is a great fit for new mom's with medical-related questions about their newborns and toddlers, right through to seniors who have questions about their lifestyle.
